This week, Vienna International School (VIS) welcomed experts from MA48, the City of Vienna’s waste management service, for a special interactive theatre performance aimed at teaching young students the importance of recycling. The event, which had as audience the ELC (Early Learning Centre) and GP (General Primary) students, offered an engaging and educational experience designed to instill sustainable habits in the next generation.
Through a lively and interactive presentation, the MA48 team used creative storytelling and hands-on activities to explain the recycling process to the students, showing the young students how everyday materials can be recycled properly and the impact it has on the environment. The theatre performance was fun and served as an excellent tool to help young learners grasp the fundamental concepts of recycling in an accessible and memorable way.
The event also came to celebrate the launch of VIS’s annual Recycling Campaign. The session provided an excellent introduction to the campaign, reinforcing good recycling practices and encouraging students to actively participate in the school’s environmental initiatives.
As an Eco School, VIS remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The school is dedicated to fostering a culture of eco-consciousness and has long been an advocate for integrating environmental education into everyday learning. VIS students are encouraged to practice recycling in the classroom, as well as to become environmental stewards who can make a difference in their homes and communities. By nurturing these habits early on, the school aims to build a generation of young learners who will be informed, responsible, and proactive when it comes to sustainability.
