Theatre Students Impress with Mock Performance

G11 IB Mock Collaborative Theatre Performance Showcases Creativity and Innovation

On 30 January, the Grade 11 IB Theatre students at Vienna International School (VIS) took to the stage to present Mock Collaborative Performance, an essential component of their IB Theatre assessment.

Taking full creative control, the students performed and designed the choreography, directed scenes, and handled lighting and sound design. Their artistic choices were heavily influenced by the experiences and techniques they encountered during their recent theatre trip to London, as well as the lessons learned in class.

A key element of the performance was the students’ group intention statement: to explore the profound ways in which grief impacts individuals and the cohesion of a group. This emotionally charged theme was brought to life through powerful performances and innovative staging, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

The performance took place in front of an invited audience of 30 peers and several faculty members. Following the show, a talkback session was held, allowing performers and audience members to engage in meaningful discussions about the creative process, artistic choices, and the themes presented. While this was only a preliminary mock performance, it provided a vital opportunity for students to refine their skills in preparation for their final IB Theatre Collaborative Performance next year.

VIS is proud of these talented students and applauds their courage in sharing such a deeply personal and artistically ambitious performance with the school community.
