VIS Concert at Historic Peterskirche

VIS Students Deliver Memorable Performance at Historic Peterskirche

On April 30, VIS hosted a spectacular concert at the historic Peterskirche, inviting all community members to witness a night of musical excellence. This special event marked a beautiful collaboration between the Primary and Secondary schools, showcasing the talents of our students in Peterskirche, a stunning venue that dates back to 1733.

The concert featured a diverse programme, with performances from both Primary and Secondary students, highlighting the depth of musical education and the students’ progress throughout this school year. The evening culminated in a powerful and moving rendition of Beethoven’s "Ode to Joy," uniting all instrumentalists and singers in a grand finale.

Beethoven's "Ode to Joy," originally premiered with his Ninth Symphony on May 7, 1824, just steps away from Peterskirche, has become a symbol of hope and unity across cultures. This piece, chosen to conclude our concert, carries a significant historical and cultural weight. In 1985, EU leaders adopted the theme of "Ode to Joy" as the official anthem of the European Union, underscoring its role in promoting world peace and solidarity.

The concert celebrated the musical achievements of our students but also brought together the entire VIS community in a shared appreciation of music and culture. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this concert a success. Special appreciation goes to the music department for their tireless efforts in preparing the students and organising the event. Their passion for music and commitment to student development were evident in every performance. We look forward to many more such events that inspire and unite our community.
