A delegation of Vienna International School (VIS) students participated in the OPOMUN 2025 conference, an Model United Nations (MUN) event hosted by CLIP – The Oporto International School. The event, which brought together students from various international schools, provided a platform for young minds to engage in stimulating diplomatic debates, tackle global challenges, and refine their public speaking and negotiation skills.
The VIS delegates reported that this was an enriching experience, describing the sessions as both intellectually challenging and highly rewarding. The students have actively participated in a range of committees, representing their designated nations in discussions on pressing global issues. Throughout the conference, VIS delegates have engaged in thought-provoking debates, formulated policy proposals, and collaborated with peers from around the world. Their participation has enabled them to develop essential skills in diplomacy, critical thinking, and teamwork, all while gaining a deeper understanding of international relations.
VIS faculty members have expressed their pride in the students' dedication and performance. “This experience has been invaluable for our students, allowing them to enhance their debating and leadership skills, while fostering appreciation for global affairs and the importance of diplomacy,” said Parwez Soogund, the VIS MUN programme coordinator.
In addition to their academic pursuits, the VIS delegation has had the opportunity to explore the vibrant city of Porto, enjoying its rich cultural heritage, historic architecture, and renowned cuisine. The combination of rigorous debate sessions and cultural immersion has made this a truly memorable experience for all participants.
