Vienna International School is currently recruiting a Business Manager:
The Business Manager of the Vienna International School is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) reporting directly to the Director and also liaising with the Board of Governance, which consists of senior UN staff members. We are looking to recruit the position starting as soon as possible

- Together with your team of 15 employees, you will assume responsibility for the Finance, Maintenance and Procurement departments
- You will be responsible for financial planning, budget preparation and cost control as well as the successful implementation of various projects
- As such, you will report regularly to the Director as Head of School and the Executive Board
- In this role, you will also be the project manager for major projects in connection with the school facilities, such as renovation projects, etc.
- You create written guidelines in compliance with Austrian law for your areas and optimise processes
- Your role as a contact person for national and international organisations relating to your areas rounds off your profile
Requirements profile
- We consider the following competences to be important to be able to fulfil this role:
- Completed studies in the field of economics
- At least 10 years of professional experience in a preferably generalist position in the financial sector and at least 5 years of management experience
- Experience in the areas of financial planning, budgeting and risk management
- Basic knowledge of Austrian law, e.g. in the area of contract law or knowledge of the compliance regulations applicable in Austria
- Business fluent in German and English
- Strong IT skills with an affinity for digitalisation
- You describe your personality as open to all cultures, diplomatic and clear in communication, analytical and planning, resilient and experienced in dealing with different personalities
- You also have strong leadership skills, get your employees on board, motivate and create an open and humorous team culture
- A high degree of flexibility and integrity is a matter of course for you

Vienna International School is always looking for talented individuals who are:
- interested in replacing a classified employee who is temporarily absent from duty or
- interested in supporting and/or supervising students during assessments and exams.
We are looking for people who are interested in at least one of the following roles:
- Coaching opportunities for competitive sports teams. Please click this link if you’re interested in working for a sports union*, under the existing employment laws: Sports Coach/assistance (*this legal entity supports VIS by organising the competitive sports programme and VIS sport events)
- Substitute teachers (teaching qualification required!) and
- Substitutes for Educational Support Staff - are covering for absent colleagues and are supporting our students directly in the classroom or gyms.
- Temporary Helpers - are mainly supporting the Maintenance, Finance and IT departments during the summer holidays, or are covering for longer absences in the school offices - will be advertised in Spring 2025.
- Invigilators
- Readers and Scribes - 'Amanuensis' - are supporting students (aged 12-18) during their assessments by writing down the dictated response from the student in various subjects. Currently, we are looking for native speakers or someone on at least C1 (CEFR) level to scribe in the following languages: German, English, Spanish, and French. Ideally, you would either be a university student, or have a degree in any subject taught at school (humanities, sciences, mathematics, and languages). Irregular duties, often only for 1 - 2 periods (40-80 min) during the regular school day.
Our Substitutes and Occasional Helpers are called in as needed and are paid on a per hour or per lesson basis. There is no obligation to accept the work offered and no obligation by VIS to offer work.
Requirements:
- motivation to work in an educational environment, and or prior experience working with students or children
- a willingness to work flexible hours, on an irregular basis
- a valid residence permit / work permit for Non-EU citizens
- a working permit “Anmeldebescheinigung“ for EU citizens
- teaching qualifications if you are interested in joining our Substitute Teacher team
